Review: The French Girl

The French Girl The French Girl by Lexie Elliott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Received in returns of an honest review through Readers first

Summer sunshine and friendships, a once in a lifetime trip to France to celebrate and to have fun. Couldn’t sound any better could it? It couldn’t, not until you add in to the mix, a beautiful lithe and tanned girl, that’s when you start to get your trouble happening.
Like most beautiful girls, they can bring out the worst in people, making strong friendships start to break down through tension and arguments, to bring up old jealousy and remarks. It’s just the start of a summer of joy and un to turn in to disaster and anger. But what really happens when no one else is looking and that beautiful girl ends up disappearing? Did she just simply leave and go home to wherever that may be, or is there something more sinister just hiding under the edges of that gorgeous summer?
For Kate, that’s just the question when the beautiful girl in question, Severine goes missing during the summer of celebrating for six British graduates, enjoying their summer in France. Just what did really happen during that summer?
While searching for her own answers and own understanding of the time they spent abroad, Kate starts to question whether she really wants to find out the truth or not, because sometimes the truth can bring it’s own horrors and even more questions that she might not be ready for, let alone be ready to accept.
After all, Severine did go missing at the same farm house that Kate and her friends were staying at. And after all, a decade is a long time to hide secrets from each other and to build up a story, an alibi enough to get you through anything if you believe it enough.
Just who killed the girl next door?

Review: Thin Air

Thin Air Thin Air by Michelle Paver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Although a good read, I personally couldn't help but feel a little let down at the whole, 'Ghost story' Part of the book. While there was moments within the book which had a chilling feel to them, I didn't really get the feeling of a ghost story coming through at any point.

Review: It All Falls Down

It All Falls Down It All Falls Down by Sheena Kamal
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

MY first insight to this book was that it looked rather interesting, a book that held many twists and turns, While it does hold some insights, I found it a little hard to actually get in to it at first as there seemed to be so much information which hadn't been explained as well as the fact, that certain bits of information was repeated constantly within a few pages. (something I can find offputting sometimes)

But the main dislike of the book is that, to full understand more of the story line and about Nora's life,You have to of read the authors first book. I received this book as part of Readers First giveaways in return for an honest review. In part, if I had known that the book was the second in a series, I wouldn't of entered to win this book.

Not only does the first book needs to be read, the whole story kind of ends on a cliff hanger with Nora, making you have to wait for the third book to continue reading about what is going on. Other than those little things, there were some parts of the book that I did enjoy, the style of writing flowed quite clearly in some places. The language was easy to understand and there was only a few characters to keep track off. Although, saying that, it can be hard to understand a little with the way each chapter seems to swap from prospective of each of the characters without much to go on or knowledge at first.

'It's too late for regrets'

Speed dating meets Illuminae in space. Six boys and six girls on their way to Mars for the rest of their lives and only so many weeks to fall in love with each other because once they land on Mars, they will be married and be starting their brand new life as the first couples on the big red planet.

A chance to redesign their life and to forget about their past, their secrets left behind on earth where anyone they knew is gone. A one way ticket to a new life. Ascension is a novel that leaves you hooked and wanting more with each chapter that you read through. It draws you in to the depths of outta space, the journey in which each of contestants face and their six minutes each of them get with each other in the viewing room.

But what happens when everything you think turns out to be one big lie, that the person you had trusted with everything has basically turned around and stabbed you in the back to say in so many words? What do you do when the one thing you have tried to keep hidden is ripped open and shown to the other side?

But most of all, what do you do when you are the only one in the know and the one who could change everything your team and the world knows?
