Review: The Girl in Red

The Girl in Red The Girl in Red by Christina Henry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A fairy tale retelling in a dystopian world, The Girl in Red is the perfect tale for all. Christina Henry has taken a tale that everyone knows and loved as kids and has worked it over in to something twisted and full of despair and violence.

Faced with a virus dubbed 'the Cough', Red and her family plan on hiking to their Grandma's house, a safe haven in the woods and away from people who could mean the difference between life and death. But things go wrong almost from the start and Red and her brother are faced with hard decisions and the choices that they make. Red is smart, a planner from the start and that is something which helps her to survive the woods and all the wolves who are out there, those who would love nothing but to sink their teeth in to her flesh.
